MECASOLAR to open tracker and fixed structure factory in West Sacramento-CA

MECASOLAR will set up in the city of West Sacramento, Yolo County, California, in a 70,000 square foot building which will be fitted with the infrastructure to manufacture 14,000 trackers a year.  Other locations in California were evaluated initially, but the possibilities for recruitment, communications, infrastructure and proximity to one of the parks which will supply 24 MW in 2010 clinched MECASOLAR´s  decision to locate in West Sacramento.

Noteworthy is the drive and support received from the Mayor - Mike McGowan, and the other members of the City Council -. Mike Luke, Ernesto Lucero, Diane Richards, Denice Seals – who sanctioned the firm decision and desire that this project be deployed in the area and create jobs and wealth for the surroundings. This building will be used by the other companies from the OPDE GROUP of which MECASOLAR, OPDE, RIOS and PROINSO form part. The new address is: 1430 Enterprise Blvd, West Sacramento, CA 95691

MECASOLAR supplies 500 kW of 2-axis trackers for solar photovoltaic project in California

The Spanish company MECASOLAR- solar trackers and fixed structures manufacturer for solar photovoltaics, is taking part in a project in California for which they have provided a total of thirty-four 2-axis trackers; MS-2E TRACKER which will provide some 500 kW of power.

This is the first in a series of U.S. projects involving MECASOLAR; the company integrated in OPDE, who will in the coming months open a new factory in San Francisco and are already supplying their products to the U.S. market.

According to MECASOLAR, the project for which they have already provided their trackers is currently being developed in Reclamation District 108 near the town of Yolo (California) with completion expected in early October. The aim is to reduce energy costs of pumping water from the area. This is common practice in California, and contributes to increasing the price of water for users; hence the interest in lowering the pumping costs.

Apart from providing trackers, PROINSO engineering-also part of the OPDE- is responsible for the complete supply of the TRINA modules with an output of 230 Wp (230Wp Model TSM Poli) and the logistics of the project. Additionally, the company has advised local engineering on the configuration and execution of the project.

Continuing its commitment to the U.S. market, MECASOLAR will be one of the leading players in the International Solar power fair to be held from 27 to 29 October in Anaheim (California. Stand 111). The company took part beforehand in the Intesolar USA fair where they met with huge success and requests for orders. Noteworthy is that this project in Yolo, was formalized during the Intersolar USA Fair, held in San Francisco during the month of July. On this occasion for the Solar Power Expo fair the company will present its 2-Axis Trackers, Seasonal Azimuth 1-Axis Trackers, and the Fixed Structures.

Currently MECASOLAR have some 30 MW on their order books which they intend formalize during the Solar Power Expo fair. The supply will take place between late 2009 and early 2010. These projects, of varying sizes and mostly located in California, will be delivered from the manufacturing plant opening soon in the San Francisco area.

The arrival of MECASOLAR in the U.S. market is supported by its experience in the solar photovoltaic markets in Spain, Italy, Portugal and Greece, where it is the leader in turnover and production, having reached the manufacturing figure of 180 MW for these markets. MECASOLAR has production centres in Spain, Greece and now in California-USA and is currently studying opening a new factory in Italy.

MECASOLAR will manufacture trackers at its new production plant in the United States

The company MECASOLAR will open a new production plant in San Francisco (California), which will start producing at full capacity, 1 and 2 axis solar trackers and fixed structures in the first quarter 2010. This initiative reflects the interest of MECASOLAR and the OPDE Group-of which they form part-, in the U.S. market. In fact, the company already has a sales office in San Francisco.

Its commitment to the U.S. market will become definite with the participation of MECASOLAR (Hall 1. Stand 9753) at the Inter-Solar 2009 fair to be held from 14 to 16 July in San Francisco.

At this exhibition they will present both their 2-axis solar trackers, and their two new products developed, designed and manufactured by the company, i.e., their new Fixed Structures, designed for ground level installations and large solar photovoltaic plants, and their new 1-Axis Azimuth Seasonal Trackers. With this expansion to its product range MECASOLAR responds to the needs of the photovoltaic market for installations at ground level: from the 2-axis solar trackers, which they have been manufacturing since 2004 - to   fixed trackers and 1-axis solar trackers which they are launching a present.

The three ranges of products will be manufactured and assembled by the production plants in Spain (Navarra and Badajoz) and Greece (Thessaloniki); as well as the production plants scheduled to be started up in Italy and the U.S at the end of 2009.

According to the company, with the new products, MECASOLAR expects to reach a production capacity for fixed structures and trackers (1 and 2 axis) by 2010 of 200 MW / year. The launch of the two new products will further strengthen its leadership in the 2-axis global photovoltaic market, with more than 140 MW manufactured in the year 2008 and 180MW accumulated to date.

The distribution of both the fixed structure and the 1-Axis Seasonal Azimuth tracker, will be performed exclusively by PROINSO, engineering and distribution company who were already conducting the distribution of 2-axis MECASOLAR trackers and also is a leader in the TRINA and REC distribution modules, as well as international partner of SMA in the supply of large photovoltaic plants.

MECASOLAR installs its trackers in a 300 Kw solar plant in Greece

MECASOLAR has installed 300 kW of solar trackers in Greece in a photovoltaic solar plant located in the county of Kilikis, whose production is operational from this April. The facility comprises 30 MECASOLAR MS TRACKERS 10+ and 60 SMA Sunny Boy Model 3300 inverters.

These inverters have been manufactured and supplied directly by the MECASOLAR factory in Greece, MECASOLAR HELLAS, located in Thessaloniki and which will supply all the material to the Greek market, as well as Bulgaria and countries of the Eastern Mediterranean.

One of the most important characteristics of this project is that it is one of the largest carried out in Greece with dual-axis solar trackers. To date, most projects in the country were 100 kW, if permitted by the new Greek legislation; from now on much larger photovoltaic plants will be developed.
